About the Film
Zezva is a short animated film I created in 2021. It is my first completed animated short, marking the beginning of my journey as an animation director.
The film tells the story of a young boy walking through a busy city, immersed in music playing through his headphones. Zezva is completely unaware of his surroundings — he bumps into an elderly woman and spills her apples, narrowly misses scenes of chaos, including a car catching fire, and almost steps into traffic while the light is red.
Just as he’s about to cross the street, a playful child slips away from his mother and crashes into Zezva, almost knocking off his headphones. This sudden contact jolts Zezva into awareness. Instinctively, he grabs the child and prevents him from running into the road, unknowingly saving his life.
The child’s mother rushes over and kisses Zezva in gratitude. This moment of human connection changes him. For the first time, Zezva truly sees the people around him. He walks back to the elderly woman whose apples he had spilled earlier and helps her carry her heavy bag.
Together, they continue down the road — two strangers now gently connected by a small act of kindness.
Zezva is a quiet reflection on modern disconnection and the transformative power of empathy. Created without dialogue, the film relies on subtle visual storytelling and emotional atmosphere to deliver its message. It was fully self-produced using a combination of 2D and 3D digital tools.
As my debut film, Zezva laid the foundation for my ongoing work in animation, and continues to hold a special place in my artistic journey.
